Training Program

The Association sponsors classes designed to train and certify its Associate Members.

Subjects covered include:

• Skills and Standards
• Spanish Colonial Period
• Mexican Period
• Texas Revolution
• Texas Personalities
• Military Presence in San Antonio
• San Antonio Sites, Landmarks, and Attractions
• Texas and San Antonio Facts and Profiles
• Architecture and Geology
• Folk Art, Foods, Customs, and Celebrations
• Safety and Emergency Situations

Class Reservations are taken throughout the year. Certification Classes begin in January and end in July. Certification requires the passing of oral and written tests. Classes are limited in size. Enrollment is on a first come-first served basis.

Certification

Upon passing the Training Program the member is designated a Certified Professional Tour Guide and entitled to wear the symbolic pin.

The New Guide, and all Certified Guides, attend Continuing Education activities that assure currency.
